BSc in FASHION & APPAREL DESIGN
The BSc in Apparel & Fashion Design program (Affiliated to Bangalore University) aims to produce well-rounded graduates who can cater to the ever-changing and dynamic Fashion industry. The curriculum provides students with essential knowledge and technical skills, focusing on current industry trends and emerging areas. The program covers creative ideation through Fashion Illustration and Design Development both manual and digital, and product development through pattern making, draping and garment construction as core areas. The course also includes theoretical inputs such as the history of fashion, textiles, and contemporary fashion, along with value-addition techniques like embroidery, printing, dyeing, etc. for various industry sectors. A combination of manual, technological, and digital inputs will enable skill development that is necessary to realize designs for different markets and sectors. Students will have the opportunity to interact with artisans to learn about crafts and provide inputs to them on the young generation’s product choices. There will also be opportunities for co-creation of new products and skill development.
Fundamentals of Fashion Design
A strong foundation in Fashion is essential for aspiring designers. This course equips students with the crucial knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the fashion industry. By understanding fabric properties, mastering pattern making, and developing a keen eye for design, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the garment creation process. Through hands-on practice, students will learn to construct a variety of garments, from foundational pieces like blouses, skirts, kurta and salwar to more intricate items such as dresses and trousers. This holistic approach equips them to confidently conceptualize, design, and construct innovative fashion pieces, positioning them for success in a dynamic and competitive field.
Home Fashion
Primary aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create functional, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable interior spaces. This involves developing a keen eye for design, understanding spatial relationships, and mastering the art of selecting appropriate colours, materials, and furnishings. Through this program, participants gain the ability to transform environments into inspiring and harmonious living or working spaces that enhance the overall quality of life.
Entrepreneurship in Fashion
Fashion entrepreneurship is essential as it bridges the gap between creativity and commerce. It enables people to understand the business aspects of fashion, including market trends, financial management, and sustainable practices. For Undergraduate Programs, the applicant should be below 24 years as of 1st August of the year of admission.
